Allen was the fifth child of seven born to Alma and Grady Walker, both deceased. He was raised in Ida B. Wells Housing Projects on the South Side of Chicago. As a child he loved to work with his hands. He was blessed with an uncanny ability to fix things. Allen was known to sometimes fight the battles of others. He was a bit of an entrepreneur as well, making a nice profit from selling fireworks to the other neighborhood kids. As a young man, he was best known for his impeccable fashion sense. Allen believed that every pant leg deserved a crease, every shirt should be starched until it stood up on the floor, there was a brim for every ocassion and you were not completely dressed until you donned just the right pair of sunglasses. On June 5th, 2012 Allen departed this life. He leaves to mourn his passing brothers; Frank, Anthony, and Everett (Lynn); sister, Carolyn; children, Michelle and Eric; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
