Today we celebrate the life of Betty Jean Carter, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Betty Jean was affectionately known by many names: Bean, Jean the butter bean, "Missy", Missionary Carter and Jeanie Winnie. Betty Jean was born September 14, 1945 to the union of Martha Alice and Fred Bryant in Shaw, Mississippi. Both preceded her in death. Betty Jean received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Philadelphia Church of God in Christ under the pastorate if Elder Luther Gill Sr. where she grew strong in God. Betty later joined Ambassadors of Christ Church under the leadership of Apostle Joseph L. Stanford where she was an ordained minister and served faithfully until she made her peaceful transition. Jean was loved and respected by all who knew her. Betty Jean was a giver who never gave out. Betty Jean leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Roberta William and Eric Carter both of Chicago, Illinois and Shantrelle Carter of Minneapolis, MN, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five sisters, six brothers, and a hosts of aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Five brothers precede her in death; Nathaniel and Fred Bryant, Lawrence Bryant, Fred D. Bryant Jr., and Charlie Bryant.
