Obituary

In Loving Memory of Charles E. Elliott. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 @ Greater Bethel Apostolic Church of God, located 2122 W. 79th. St. Chicago, Illinois. Wake: 10:00 a.m. and Funeral 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow @ Burr Oaks Cemetery, 127th. Kostner, Alsip, Il.

Charles Edward Elliott affectionately known as "Butch" by his family and as "Chuck" by his friends entered this life on April 22, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Velma M. Elliott and Sammie Hankins. Butch was nurtured and matured by his dad, Reverend Oren Swift affectionately known as "Tommie".

Charles accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend W.J. Washington. Charles was presently a member of Second Baptist Church in Evanston, Illinois under the pastorate of Reverend Mark A. Dennis, Jr.

Charles was educated in the Chicago Public School System. He later attended DeVry Institute where he majored in Computer Science. Charles had a love to express his political views in doing so, he became a member of the Young Democratic Party of the State of Illinois. He was very knowledgeable in the computer field working as a computer analyst for many years for the City of Chicago Department of Aviation then in the late nineties her began working for Malcom X College, and prior to his death working as a computer consultant.

Butch was preceded in death by his loving mother, Velma Marie Swift.

He leaves to cherish his memory his dad, Reverend Oren Swift(Verlean) of Oak Lawn, Il, his father, Sammie Hankins(Dorothy) of Gibson TN., two sons, Lamont Smith(Monique) of Blue Island, Il., and Sterling Jones of Chicago, Il., one brother, Reginald B. Swift of Atlanta, GA; six sisters Yvonne D. Elliott of Oak Lawn, Il, Beverly A. Ashford(Maurice) of Hillside, Il, Kim R. Swift Frazier of Ill, Joy C. Squires(Jeffery) of Zebulon, NC and Sandra Comer(Elston) of Jackson,TN and Felicia Harrington (Veron) of Champaign, Il., one favorite uncle, James Berry, Sr. of Nashville,TN four grandchildren, five nieces, five nephews, three very special cousins,three special friends and a host of family and friends.
