Daisy Elizabeth McCray Nicholson passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

Daisy Elizabeth McCray, was born to Ollie McCray and Corrie L. Lewis (aka Odester McCray) on July 4, 1963, in Lambert, Mississippi. Daisy was the fourth child of six children and the eldest daughter.

Daisy attended elementary school and later attended Harrison High graduating from Lady of Academy in 1980, when she also gave birth to a lovely daughter Akisha McCray, who is now with the Lord.

She also attended East West University and Ravenwood College for her Nursing Degree. In 1985, Daisy married Derrick Nicholson, Sr. and gave birth to her son, Derrick Nicholson, Jr.

In 1999-2000 Daisy further pursued her Barber License to own a shop. Daisy found God at a young age and in 1990 she got baptized. Daisy was a good grandmother. She enjoyed being a grandma, she was filled with joy and excitement and anyone who knew her would tell you, you would never forget her presence. She was very socialable and cared a great deal for others.

Daisy always lent herself to those in need. Even when you were meeting her for the first time, it was no doubt she had a giving heart. She strived to gain your attention one way or another to gain a friendly relationship.

She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Akisha R. McCray; her father, Ollie McCray, Sr.; her brother, Stan McCray; both grandmothers, Daisy McCray and Frances Morgan.

She leaves to cherish: her mother, Corrie Lewis; her sister, Catherine McCray; three brothers, Ollie (Sondra) McCray, John (Constance) McCray, Michael (Diane) McCray; son, Derrick Nicholson; two grandkids, Jajuan McCray, Karmari Derrick Nicholason; three half-sisters, Linda William, Wanda Saundra, Sundra Spears; her aunties, Alberta Keeler, Ruthie McCray, Bonnie McCray; uncles, Bishop T.L. Beverly McCray, James Morgan, James (Rena) McCray, Teevester Morgan, Billy (Keri) McCray, Cole Morgan; and nieces, Channell, Ashley, Jessica McCray; nephew, Jonathan, Marcus, Anthony; and a host of other family and friends.

Daisy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 2:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.
Family Hour 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on
Thursday, February 28, 2013, Viewing and Visitation
9:00a.m.-11:00a.m.; Funeral Services starting at 11:00a.m.

All Services will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home, 2036 W. 79th Street Chicago, IL., 60620

Interment will will take place immediately following the funeral services at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
