Earl Warfield was born in Slaughter, Mississippi to the late Walter and Helen Scott Warfield on October 27, 1921. He was one of 17 children, all have preceded him in death except for two sisters,; Emma Jean Smith (Lionel) of Louisiana and Auga Retha Stanberry of Sikeston, Missouri. The family moves to Bell City, MO, where Earl received his formal education and accepted Christ at an early age. He and other family members eventually moved to Chicago, Illinois. Earl married Annie Lee Wade I 1940. To this union four children were born.; Juanita, William, Dorothy and an infant son. Both sons and a daughter have preceded him in death in 1995. The family resided on the Southside of the City, where Earl was known for his gardening skills. In his twenties, Earl worked in various trade industries in the Chicago land area, but held fond memories of the time he spent helping to build the Brookfield Zoo. He spent many years as a hog slaughter in the meat packing industry; working for the John Morrell and the Swift Meat packing Companies throughout his working years. Earl also tried his hand at boxing, competing in various bouts at the Rainbow Arena (Heavyweight Division) in the city. Earl was a faithful member and a dedicated Deacon at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., where he would be found not only on each and every Sunday, but also often during the week performing all duties expected of him as a Deacon. He spent his later years at the Fairmont Health Care Center on the city's Northside. He leaves fond memories with: Dorothy Warfield, Linda Jackson (Willie), and Gregory Warfield (Karen Denise); grandchildren, Juaria Shelton, Byron Warfield, Michael Drummond, Amanda Warfield, Jennifer Kyla, Spencer Jackson, Zakiya, Gregory, Jr. Jamila and Walter "OJ" Warfield; many great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
