On April 5, 1945 in Meridian, Mississippi, Jessie Mae Payton and Albert Marshall celebrated the birth of their daughter Glenda Faye Okoe. Glenda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. Glenda left the South and moved to the Midwest as a child. Arriving in Chicago in 1960. Glenda attended Wendell Phillips High School, and Tougaloo College in Mississippi. After graduating from college, Glenda started her career as a teacher, eventually serving faithfully at Nicolas Copernicus Elementary School on the South Side of Chicago, where she retired. United in matrimony to Abubakar Adjei Okoe I. Glenda had one child Abubakar Adjei Okoe II, but helped to raised and educate a village of children. Glenda departed this life on November 30, 2009. Glenda was preceded in death by her mother Jessie Mae Payton, her father Albert Marshall, and her sister Patricia Ann Trussell. Glenda leaves to cherish her loving memory; her husband Abubakar Adjei Okoe I, her son Abubakar Adjei Okoe II, her daughter-in-law Tashanda Latrice Okoe, her grand-daughter Adjanay Okoe, her brother Robert James Trussell and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, one uncle, and friends.
