At a young age, Irma went to live with her late Aunt Clara. In the early 50's at which time they relocated to Chicago.

This is were Irma developed her love for the medical profession. Irma volunteered as a Candy Striper at local hospitals in her late teens. and became a LPN. She remained in that profession for over 45 years.

In 1963 Irma met and married Guy Allen Spears and unto this union Dionne, Robin, and Guy II were born. Irma loved to travel and entertain. She had an amazing gift for hospitality. People were drawn to her to gain her wisdom. She also adopted and mentored Jacqueline, Indlia, and Michael. On Saturday, July 28, 2012 God dispatched his angels to call Irma home to eternal rest. Irma Jeane leaves to cherish her precious memory; her Aunt Florence Coakley; Cchildren, Dionne (Ernest), Robin and Guy (Smamntha); sisters, Ollie and Celeste; brothers, Leroy and Carl (Myrt); adopted children Jacqueline, Undlia (Anthony, Michael (Tracy); grandchildren, Brittany and Ernest; adopted grandchildren, Emanuel, De'Andrea, Eyleshia, Autumn nd Amber; great grandson Dominique and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family.
