John Henry Evans was born to Charles Evans, Sr. and Elizabeth (Ratcliff) Evans on September 28, 1945, in Inverness, Mississippi. John confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age in Inverness, Mississippi. John was married to the love of his, Louise Evans for 37 years. John graduated from Gentry High School in Indianola, Mississippi in 1965. He attended Alcorn State University for two years, and received his B.A. degree in Secondary Education from Chicago State University in Chicago, Illinois. After which he taught in Chicago Public Schools for 19 years. Most people knew John by his nickname, "Pumpkin." He loved people, and was loved by all who knew him. He especially loved planting a garden… and that was different for city people. John loved to fix on everything. On Sunday, November 22, 2009, John was born into eternity. John leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Louise Evans; son, Cedric Ambrose, daughter, Pamela Newson; his mother and father, Charles and Elizabeth Evans of Indianola, MS; grandchildren, Pattie White and Patrice Newson, great grandchildren Keyonte Peterson and Aundra Butler; seven sisters, two uncles, one special uncle, Henry Ratcliff; mother-in-law, Martha Brown; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
