Johnnie Garvin
Brown
Nov 22, 1958 — Nov 23, 2020
Born at home in Chicago, Illinois by midwife, to Johnny Brown and Dorothy Ray Baker Brown. The youngest brother of Deloris, Tytrea, Mitzi, Janelle, April and only brother Terry. He attended elementary at Yale elementary and graduated Parker High School. Soon after graduating he joined the U.S. Navy. He returned to his mother's home and soon after became a father to Tyron Kennedy, with Shirley Kennedy.
My younger brother Johnnie truly exemplified the scripture Deuteronomy 5:16 " Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. Johnnie left his apartment to live in Moms house so that she would not be alone. Johnnie had to let in neighbors, house keepers, hospice, and family during their visits.
Johnnie was a loner and a man of few words, and did not like drawn out conversations. Johnnie was a private person and played all types of music in his room, where he lived with his sister and where he was also placed on hospice care. They and his niece Katrina provided 24 /7 care, so that he could be among family where he lived and died with dignity after his cancer diagnosis.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his Parents, Uncles and Nephew Xavier Joy; he leaves behind his Son Tyron Kennedy, Grandson Tyjuan Kennedy, Granddaughter Tylen Kennedy. Additionally, he leaves Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of other relatives and Friends.
Services have been entrusted to Golden Gate Funeral Home, Chicago, 60620.
