Mareman Duke Hawkins, Jr, born November 12, 1926, affectionately known as "M.D."  to family members and "Hawk" to his friends, entered into eternal peace on November 30, 2018.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944 until 1946. After serving his country, he dedicated 30 years to the United States Postal Service.  "M.D." leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Linda R. Jenkins, (Rev. Leon Jenkins, Jr.), son, Brian Hawkins, grandson Michael, his closest nephew Felix Hawkins, Jr., niece, Barbara (Grant Taylor, Jr) and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  His services were held December 14, 2018 at Elim Evangelical Free Church, Oak Lawn, IL.  Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.   Services entrusted to Golden Gate Funeral Home, Chicago, IL
