Mary Lee Morgan was born on April 27, 1929 in Pace, Mississippi, the sixth of ten children, to the late Albert and Lucille Cowsette.
Mary was very spirit filled individual who proudly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was very young. As a child, Mary attended Pace Baptist Church, and also attended the Pace, Mississippi school system where she obtained her high school diploma. She developed a strong work ethic for teaching in the Pace school system to help encouraged many students to continue achieving higher education.
On October 5, 1952, Mary was joined in Holy Matrimony to Harry Morgan. In 1956 Mary and Harry brought their family to Chicago, Illinois to begin their new life together. They later joined the New Upper Room M.B. Church under the direction and guidance of Reverend S.L. Rice, until her health failed. Mary was giving of herself to not only family, but also others.
Mary went on to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2007 at 11:20 am.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Larry (Toni) Cowsette, Albert (Penny) Cowsette, Virgil (Debra)Anderson, Harry Jr. (Betsy) Morgan, Catherine Morgan, Eddie (Laura) Morgan, Irving Morgan(preceded in death), Lucille (Eugene) Bell, Lucindy Morgan (preceded in death). Grandchildren: Keshun (Aleshia), Eugene Jr., Michael, Brian and Chiara, Nita Torian, Kristal and Virgil Jr., Monique Anderson, Quincy, Corey, Larry Jr., Christoper, Eddie Jr., Aneisha, and LaDonna. Albert Jr., Terance, Anthony, and Delbert...and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at New Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church, 2709 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago. Interment was in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
