Obituary

Odell Bunton was born on August 14, 1932 in Yazoo, Mississippi to the late Henry and Gladys Bunton. He departed this life at 6:18p.m. on December 10, 2010. Odell attended St. Francis High School, in Yazoo City and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviors early in life. He serves in the U.S. Army as a cook stationed in Boston, MA. He returned to civilian life in 1956 and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1957. He was a loyal employee of the Butternut Bread Company, until his retirement in 1994. His brief marriage to Isabella, blessed with two children; son Darnell Bunton and daughter, Donna Jean Furlow (deceased). Odell was a faithful servant to the Lord in word and deed. Over the years, he served in several ministries at Christ Temple Cathedral including; provided all of the meat for Breakfast Ministry and the Summer School Kids Bus Ministry. He was a member of the Saints Alive Sr. Ministry. Odell's memory is lovingly cherished by his sisters Adeola Carter, Bertha Gerette and her husband, Lincoln, brother-in-law Elijah Brown, husband to Mar y Emma (deceased), brother-in-law Jessie Peeples, husband to Jo Velma (deceased), and two aunts, Catherine Byrd (sister of Gladys) and Sarah A. Lee (sister to Henry). Odell leaves behind son, Darnell. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, great-grand children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends Ann Manuel, Mildred Haynes, James Pleasant and Georgette Miles.
