RD Word, born November 27, 1928 to parents William and Henrietta Word in Brinkley, AR has slipped away into the loving arms of Christ on January 11, 2019.  He was surrounded by his loving wife, Geneva, and his loving family at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago, IL.  Both of RD's parents have preceded him death.  Being one of thirteen children, RD was a very caring person, always providing for his family.  Attended Brinkley Public School in his birthplace.  Once coming to Chicago, he drove for Abernathy Cab Company for many years, until he purchased his own cab. He retired some years later. Nine of RD's siblings also preceded him in death leaving YC Word, Herman (Mary Ann) and William (Aza Lee) to mourn his memory along with his loving wife, Geneva and caring daughter, Larzetta (Roy) Wells, two grandsons, Nevell and Robert (Chervonne) Smith, two great grandchildren, Kyra and Janae Smith, loving sister-in-law, Juanita Word, one brother-in-law, Terry Henry, and special friend, John Smith and a host of other family members who will miss him dearly.
