Walter Robinson,Sr.affectionally called "Big Daddy" was born March 27, 1909 to the union of James Slack Robinson and Euella Lucille Bates in McAllister, Oklahoma. Walter attended Crane Tech High School where he was a starter at the half back position on the football team. English was his favorite subject he said he always wanted to speak properly to people.
At the age of 19, Walter married his high school sweetheart, Willa Mae Smith. On March 6, 1957 she preceded him in death. Through this union they were blessed with five children; Walter, Jr.(who passed in May, 1982), Helen, Ernest, Betty Jean, and Donald. Walter worked hard to provide for his family. He owned and operated a Philips 66 gas station at 51st. & Michigan Ave. This is were he met his second wife Irma. They were married on March 19, 1960. Through this union they were blessed with a son, Alvin.
Walter retired and later went to work as a dispatcher for H & H Towing. Walter's favorite leisure time activities included being with family, enjoying a good meal, and visiting the race track.
On March 13, 2012 Walter was called home to be with the Lord, just 14 days before his 103rd. birthday.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory five children; Helen Bragg (Johnnie), Ernest Robinson (Patricia), Betty Jenkins, Donald Robinson, and Al Robinson (Felicia); twelve grandchldren; twenty four great grandchildren; twenty five great great grandchildren; six great great great grandchildren and a host of in-laws, loved ones and friends.
